The Schools Rules
This is a private initiative formed by a group of collaborators that can work and build together in the true tradition of historic folk schools. Part social club, country school, and social justice educational initiative. Bound together by an honor system and these mutual operating agreements, otherwise known as SCHOOL RULES, as follows:
-
We are cultivating a culture of inclusive community-united forces and many voices led by those it serves.
-
We embrace individuality and elevate our community with the things that unite us in our aspirations- Arts, Foods, Music, Culture, and Families in their many forms.
-
We work towards the good of all and ensure to bring harm to no one.
-
We look to leadership representing our community, particularly interested in developing programs for Indigenous, BIPOC, LGBTQTS, and other underrepresented communities. This is to lift the voice into direct action for a safe and healthy community for people of color.
-
We seek organic, informed development with inclusive engaged leadership from local elders and experts.
-
We look to find cross-cultural and intergenerational values that utilize best practices socially, environmentally, and economically.
-
We aspire to reinvest in ourselves to find ways to use less, be more, and serve the most potential.
-
We endeavor to take chances, share strengths, be open to ideas, and encourage one another. We fear not failure or trial; we are only gathering information for the best next steps.
-
We will do this with our tools, strength-based, hands-on education, and grassroots organizing.
-
We look to our children's future, the wisdom of our ancestors, the clarity of our hearts and minds, water and air to build a better future together.
